In February 2026, in Messina — the city where his journey began — Chef Salvatore Sauta was awarded the prestigious Premio Pizzaiolo Straordinario della Pizza Italiana at the Pizza PIC Awards.
Presented by the Movimento Pizzaioli Italiani (MPI), the award recognizes exceptional mastery, dedication to authentic Italian tradition, and meaningful contribution to the advancement of true Italian pizza culture worldwide.
The recognition carries particular significance, having been conferred in his hometown of Messina — marking a full-circle moment in his professional journey.

The award was formally presented by his longtime mentor and instructor,  World Champion Carmelo Guarnera.
To receive this distinction from his own maestro, in the city where his formation began, represents both honor and continuity — a symbolic passing forward of standards, responsibility, and craft.

Following this recognition, the Movimento Pizzaioli Italiani formally appointed Salvatore Sauta as:
"Delegato del Movimento Pizzaioli Italiani per la zona del Canada"
Entrusted with representing the values, mission, and cultural heritage of the Italian pizzaiolo, this role extends beyond craftsmanship. It represents a mandate to safeguard, promote, and uphold authentic Italian pizza tradition across Canadian territory.

As official delegate, Chef Salvatore serves as the link between the Movimento Pizzaioli Italiani and the Canadian market, supporting initiatives that promote professional standards, cultural exchange, industry events, and future training opportunities for pizzaioli and culinary professionals across Canada.
The appointment reflects both professional recognition and the responsibility of representing authentic Italian pizza culture internationally.
